A little about my background

My professional path has brought together clinical practice, research, teaching, and behavioral health.

I earned my PhD in Human Development and Family Studies from Iowa State University in 2017, and my master's degree in Clinical Counseling from Bellevue University in 2012. My doctoral and research work has focused on psychological well-being, resilience, family relationships, social and environmental influences on mental health, and the ways people navigate difficult circumstances across the life course.

I have worked with individuals, couples, adults, children, and families in a variety of clinical and community settings, including outpatient behavioral health, intensive outpatient treatment, family services, and child and family systems.

I am licensed as a Professional Counselor in Oregon and as a Mental Health Counselor in Washington and Iowa. My clinical experience has included working with people experiencing depression, anxiety, trauma, emotional dysregulation, relationship difficulties, significant life transitions, and acute psychological distress.

I also have a background as a researcher and writer. My work has been published in peer-reviewed journals and I have written about mental health and psychotherapy for GoodRx and Psychotherapy Networker.
